Over 90% of the businesses in our district are considered “small business.” In fact, most have fewer than ten employees. That is why the Small Business Management Program at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center is such an essential tool for our district.
SBM provides an opportunity for the owner/manager of a small business to gain necessary management skills. Most of this training is done one-on-one at the business site. This means that the owner/manager can have long-term, personalized training without taking valuable time away from daily business operations. Topics that can be covered include record keeping, cash flow, planning for profits, marketing, advertising, salesmanship, recruiting and training, compliance with government regulations and customer service.
Participating businesses receive assistance in developing a business plan, and individual consultations can be scheduled for confidential counseling. Using applied management principles, you and the SBM coordinator will work together to find the strength or weaknesses of the business and customize a program to improve productivity and profitability.

One of the advantages of working with CKTC is that when a business signs up with the SBM coordinator, you also have access to and assistance from our entire Business and Industry Services department. Those services include safety training, leadership training, support with securing government bids, industry training, leadership development and specialty training for agricultural businesses.
